The Resource
Arsenal

Every resource here has been personally vetted. These are the tools, organizations, and lifelines that work — for veterans, first responders, and the families who love them.

A note from the founder: I'm a recovering addict and alcoholic who found sobriety through resources like these. I've personally used or vetted everything on this page. If something helped me, it's here. If it didn't, it's not.

My Story

Founder's Core Certification

Subconscious
Restructuring®

The Burris Institute · Dr. Kelly Burris, PhD

Subconscious Restructuring® (SR™) is the certified methodology at the core of everything I do as a life coach. Developed by Dr. Kelly Burris, PhD, SR™ is a proven framework for emotional reprogramming — rewiring the subconscious belief systems that drive addiction, PTSD responses, self-sabotage, and chronic mental health struggles.

Unlike talk therapy that revisits trauma, SR™ works by restructuring the operating system beneath the behavior. It's backed by 17 psychometrics, 3 cohorts, and 5 clinical studies. I became certified because it worked for me — and it's why the results I see with clients are real.

This is the foundation. Dr. Burris lays out the complete SR™ framework — the seven pillars that form a comprehensive mental health architecture. This is the methodology I use with every client, adapted specifically for the veteran and first responder experience.

Accredited Non-VA Programs · Founder Recommended

Avalon Action
Alliance

Avalon Action Alliance is one of the most respected accredited, non-VA treatment programs in the country — built specifically for veterans, active duty service members, and first responders. This is the kind of organization that fills the gap when the VA isn't enough or isn't the right fit.

Their approach is whole-person and evidence-based: addressing trauma, PTSD, addiction, moral injury, and the invisible wounds that don't show up on an X-ray. They understand the warrior culture because they've built their entire program around it.

If you or someone you know needs a higher level of care than coaching can provide, Avalon is one of the first places I point people. Accredited. Veteran-specific. Battle-tested.

Accredited Treatment Program

Fully accredited, evidence-based care that meets the highest clinical standards — not a weekend retreat.

Veterans, Active Duty & First Responders

Purpose-built for the warrior community. They speak your language and understand your experience.

Trauma & PTSD Recovery

Specialized treatment for combat trauma, moral injury, MST, and the full spectrum of service-related PTSD.

Addiction & Co-Occurring Disorders

Integrated treatment for substance use disorders alongside mental health — because they rarely come alone.

Non-VA Alternative

For those who need more than the VA offers, or who want a different path — Avalon fills that gap with accredited care.

Whole-Person Approach

Mind, body, and spirit — the same philosophy that drives everything at Warrior Life Coach.

The Independence Fund

Established 2007 · Charlotte, NC · 888.851.7996

VeteransActive DutyCaregivers & Families

The Independence Fund is one of the most comprehensive veteran-serving organizations in the country. Founded in 2007 and led by CEO Sarah Verardo — herself a caregiver to her catastrophically wounded husband — TIF operates with the kind of firsthand understanding that most organizations can't fake.

Their programs span mobility and adaptive technology, suicide prevention, caregiver and family support, advocacy on Capitol Hill, and direct casework assistance. They serve the whole warfighter community — not just the veteran, but the family and caregivers who carry the weight alongside them.

Warriors Heart

Bandera, TX · Founder-Attended · Life-Saving

VeteransActive DutyFirst Responders

Warriors Heart is the treatment facility that saved my life. I'm not recommending this from a brochure — I attended their program personally. Located on a working ranch in Bandera, Texas, Warriors Heart is the first and only private treatment program in the country built exclusively for warriors: veterans, active duty, and first responders.

They treat addiction, PTSD, TBI, and co-occurring disorders in an environment built around warrior culture — no civilians, no judgment, just peers who understand what you've been through. If you or someone you love is in the grip of addiction or trauma and needs a higher level of care, this is the place I point people first.

SHARE Military Initiative

Shepherd Center · Atlanta, GA · Founder-Employed · Donor-Funded · No Cost to Warriors

VeteransActive DutyFirst Responders

I worked at this facility as the Peer Liaison — and I can tell you firsthand that what happens inside SHARE is unlike anything else in the country. Located at the Shepherd Center in Atlanta, the SHARE Military Initiative is the premier head injury rehabilitation clinic built exclusively for warriors, and it is completely donor-funded, meaning there is no cost to the veteran, service member, or first responder.

TBI is one of the most under-diagnosed and misunderstood conditions coming out of service. Its symptoms — cognitive fog, emotional dysregulation, sleep disruption, chronic pain, memory loss — are routinely mistaken for PTSD, depression, or personality disorders. The result is a heavily medicated path that treats the wrong problem. SHARE gets to the root.

Over a 10-year period I witnessed remarkable, measurable changes in dozens of warrior clients who came in broken and left with a renewed "rucksack full of tools." Their evidence-based rehabilitation program addresses TBI, PTSD, and co-occurring conditions through flexible programming, collaborative care, and full community reintegration support.
